چکیده

Thirty young men were randomly assigned in equal numbers to one .of the following groups: placebo (lactose), secobarbital (100 mg), or d-amphetamine (10 mg). The drugs or placebo were administered in capsules in a double-blind procedure following practice at a tracking task and baseline determinations of tracking performance levels in both static (stationary) and dynamic (angular acceleration) conditions. Tests were scheduled 1' 2' and 4 hours after capsule ingestion; all tests were conducted inside a Stille-Werner rotator and were in total darkness with the exception of the illuminated tracking display. With the rotator stationary, d-amphetamine subjects performed significantly better than controls during the 2-hour and 4-hour post-drug sessions; no other static differences among the groups were significant. However, during angular acceleration, secobarbital subjects made significant l y more tracking errors and had significantly more vestibular nystagmus than both tl-:e control and the d-amphetamine groups for all post-drug sessions. These findings agree with our previous studies of alcohol effects: depressant drugs may have little or no deleterious influence on tracking performance in static environments, but may produce marked performance degradation during angular motion. The primary cause of this performance impairment appears to be a vestibulo ocular one; ~=he ability to inhibit vestibular nystagmus by visual fixation is impaired.

The effects of psychoactive drugs and neuroleptics on language in normal subjects and schizophrenic patients: a review.

The aim of this survey is to present an overview of research into psychopharmacology as regards the effects of different psychoactive drugs and neuroleptics (NL) on language in normal subjects and schizophrenic patients. Eighteen studies that have investigated the effects of different drugs (alcohol, amphetamines, secobarbital, L-dopa, psilocybin, ketamine, fenfluramine) and neuroleptics (conve...

Prediction of Body Center of Mass Acceleration From Trunk and Lower Limb Joints Accelerations During Quiet Standing

Purpose: Predicting body Center of Mass (COM) acceleration is carried out with more accuracy based on the acceleration of three joints of lower limb compared to only accounting joints of hip and ankle. Given that trunk movement during quite standing is noticeable, calculating trunk acceleration in model might increase prediction accuracy of COM acceleration. Moreover, in previous research studi...

Effects of Flight Dynamics on Performance of One Axis Gimbal System, Considering Disturbance Torques

The gimbal stabilization mechanism system is used to provide the stability to an object mounted on the gimbal by isolating it from the base angular motion and vibration. In this paper the model of one axis gimbal system with dynamics flying object is introduced. The gimbal torque relationships are obtained using Newton’s second law equation on the assumption that gimbal is rigid body. The syste...

Automated distinguishing of mouse behavior in new environment and under amphetamine using decision trees

Traditional activity measures do not provide a clear discrimination between mouse behavior in novel environment or under various psychomotor stimulants like d-amphetamine [1]. We propose a new approach based on machine learning. A decision tree classifier is trained on a set of mouse trajectories. Only xand ycoordinates are currently used. After classifier is trained, the classification can be ...
